The Major League Cricket 2025 is currently underway in the United States. Six teams are battling out for the title glory.
This is the third of the top-tier domestic T20 competition in the US. The final will be held on July 13.
Washington Freedom are the defending champions.
Top T20 players like Sunil Narine, Steve Smith, Faf du Plessis, Andre Russell, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran, Heinrich Klaasen, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Trent Boult feature in the third MLC season.
Major League Cricket 2025: Format
The first phase of the tournament will be played in the group stage in which all six teams play each other twice in a double round-robin format. There will be 30 league stage matches before the playoffs get underway.
In the league stage, teams get two points for every win and one point for matches abandoned without a result. In case of tied matches, winners will be decided through Super Over.
The playoffs will be played in three layers. The top two teams from the league stage meet in the Qualifier while the third and fourth-placed sides clash in the Eliminator.
The winner of the Qualifier will progress directly to the final. The losing team from the Qualifier will face the winning side from the Eliminator in the Challenger match for the second spot in the final.
