The Africa Cup of Nations 2025 will run from 21 December 2025 through to 18 January 2026 in Morocco.
Twenty-four nations will take part in AFCON 2025. Following the preliminary round, 48 teams were divided into 12 groups of four, playing home and away in a total of six matches, where the top two teams from each group qualified.
AFCON 2025: Format
The 24 teams affiliated to Confederation of African Football (CAF) have been drawn into six groups of four, where they will play a single round-robin format of three matches in the group stage.
The top two teams automatically qualify for the knockout stages, while the third-placed teams will compete for the remaining spots. Of the six teams who finish third, the best four will make it to the round of 16. The tournament then heads straight to the knockout stage with the final on 18 January 2026 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. .
