Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2025: A Look At Squads

The Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2025 gets underway on March 4 in Tehran, Iran.
The sixth edition of the continental tournament is being held for the first time since 2017.
A total of seven teams including India, Malaysia, Iraq, Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, and hosts Iran, will be battling for the prestigious continental title in kabaddi.
Chinese Taipei, who put up a good show at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 , defeating Iran and tying a match with India, will not be a part of the tournament.
The championship will be a test for the teams before the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup, set to take place in Bihar later this year.
Defending champions India enter the tournament as the favourites. The Asian Games 2022 gold medallist won the title on four of six occasions, including the last edition in 2017.

India Squad
Indian squad for the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship 2025 will be led by Sonali Shingate, who recently led Indian Railways in a title-winning campaign at the Senior National Women’s Kabaddi Championship. All-rounder Pushpa Rana will be her deputy.
The 12-member team has a mix of seven raiders, four specialist defenders, and an all-rounder. The big names include Pooja Kajila, Pooja Narwal, Jyoti Thakur, Sakshi Sharma, and Nidhi Sharma, among others.

Nepal Squad
The Nepalese team is led by captain Manmati Bista, with players Jayanti Badu, Rabina Chaudhary, Ganga Ghimire, Sirjana Kumari Tharu, Nisha Bohara, Nisha Khatri, Manisha Joshi, Ashma Yadav, and Binita Pandit Chhetri. The team is accompanied by officials Arvind Kumar Jha, coach Harina Thapa, and referee Nitu Gurung.
Bangladesh Squad
The Bangladesh team consists of 12 players and two officials. Sumibol Chandra Das will accompany the team as manager and coach, Shahnaj Parvin Maleka as coach, and Sraboni Mollick as the captain.
