This was the first ever women’s kabaddi test series between Bangladesh and Nepal. For the Bengal tigresses, this series was a preparation for the upcoming Women’s Kabaddi World Cup to be held in India from June 1-13.
The series was also a learning process for the women’s Bangladeshi kabaddi team as they had no record of winning against Nepal prior to this event. It was the Himalayan nation that had always dominated the Bengal tigress in women’s kabaddi.
The Bangladesh team had already started their training camp for the kabaddi test series immediately after winning bronze at the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship in Iran under the supervision of coaches Shahnaz Parveen Maleka and Arduzzaman Munshi at Dhanmondi Riya Gope Women’s Sports Complex.

Regarding preparations for the World Cup, SM Newaz Sohag said, “Since the Women’s World Cup is in June, we need to play some preparation matches. We’ll play five matches against Nepal which will be very useful for us. I believe that our girls will gain experience before the World Cup. After the series, we’ll try to send the team to India 15-day or a month before the start of the World Cup.”
Sohag also informed that efforts are being made to organise a few warm-up matches against the state team in India. Besides, they are also planning to organise a match against Thailand.
