England Vs India Test series 2025: Schedule, Indian Squad Led By Shubman Gill

India is set to tour England for a five-match test series that starts from June 20. The series will mark the beginning of the 2025-27 World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.

The series starts from June 20 at Headingley in Leeds. The second match of the series will be held at Edgbaston in Birmingham from July 2 while the third game will commence on July 10 at Lord’s.

The fourth Test  will take place after a nine-day break, which will be held at Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23. The series will conclude at Kennington Oval in London.

Notably, India hasn’t won a Test series in England since 2007, while it came close to beating the hosts the last time around when the 2021 series ended in a 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday (May 24) announced the squad for the five-match Test series. Following the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, the Indian test side now has been replenished by fresh blood. 

Shubman Gill was named the Test captain, succeeding Sharma. Rishabh Pant will serve as his deputy.

Surprisingly, Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Shami were not included in the 18-member team.

Arshdeep Singh got his maiden Test call-up. Kuldeep Yadav was the only specialist spinner who was a part of the side.

Shardul Thakur and Karun Nair also earned a comeback with the later returning after seven years.

Earlier, the BCCI also named the India A squad for the upcoming tour of England, where the team will play two first-class matches against the England Lions at Canterbury and Northampton. The tour will conclude with a match against Team India (Senior Men).
