IPL 2025: Royal Challengers Bengaluru Win Maiden Title In 18 Years

Royal Challengers Bengaluru were crowned the IPL 2025 champions after beating Punjab Kings by six runs in the Indian Premier League 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
This was their maiden title ever since the inception of the tournament in 2028. RCB clinched their maiden IPL title after falling short in the final on three previous occasions.
After winning the toss, RCB were put to bat first by PKBS. Virat Kohli top-scored for RCB with the bat after making 43, while Krunal Pandya finished with figures of 2/17 with the ball and derailed the PBKS chase.
Chasing 191, Punjab’s openers began on a firm footing. Prabhsimran Singh had an early reprieve when Romario Shepherd dropped him in the third over while Priyansh Arya was dismissed by Josh Hazlewood after he was caught by Phil Salt at deep square leg.
Prabhsimran looked to get a move on in the eighth over, hitting two sixes off Suyash Sharma. However, Prabhsimran and Punjab skipper Shreyas Iyer fell in successive overs, leaving PBKS reeling at 81/3 at the halfway mark.
Josh Inglis looked to counter-attack with a couple of sixes but perished early in the 13th over, caught at long-on off Krunal Pandya.
With 90 needed from the final seven overs, Punjab’s chase hinged on Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh. The duo found occasional boundaries, but the required rate kept climbing.
Nehal was caught out in the 17th over while trying to accelerate. New batter Marcus Stoinis then hit a first-ball six but fell in the very next delivery, dealing a major blow to PBKS’s fading chances.
The final three overs saw Punjab lose more wickets and even Shashank Singh’s heroic final stand couldn’t push PBKS over the line.
