Significance of the Nepal Vs Bangladesh Women’s Kabaddi Series

The Nepal vs Bangladesh women’s kabaddi series is significant as players will get an opportunity to prove themselves ahead of the upcoming Women’s Kabaddi World Cup to be held in India from June 1 to 13 this year.

The Bangladesh team started their training camp for the test series immediately after winning bronze at the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship in Iran under the coaching of Shahnaz Parveen Maleka and Arduzzaman Munshi at Dhanmondi Riya Gope Women’s Sports Complex.

Regarding preparations for the World Cup, SM Newaz Sohag said, “Since the Women’s World Cup is in June, we need to play some preparation matches. We’ll play five matches against Nepal which will be very useful for us. I believe that our girls will gain experience before the World Cup. After the series, we’ll try to send the team to India 15-day or a month before the start of the World Cup.”

In the run up to the World Cup, Sohag also informed that they have planned to organise a few warm-up matches against the state team in India. Besides, they are also looking to stage a match against Thailand.

As far as their head-to-head collision is concerned, Nepal is no match to Bangladesh in Women’s Kabaddi. Bangladesh has no record of winning against the Himalayan nation in recent times, having lost to them in South Asian Games and Asian Games.

The case is, however, contrary in men’s kabaddi. Recently, the Nepal men’s kabaddi team visited Bangladesh to play a five-match series. The matches were played in Dhaka and the Bengal Tigers won the series 4-1.
