Shrikant Jadhav Bids Adieu To PKL; Announces Retirement

Shrikant Jadhav has officially announced his retirement from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) following the conclusion of Season 12. The announcement comes after Jadhav went unsold in the Season 12 auction, marking the end of a nine-season career in which he played for four different teams and became known as a reliable and crafty raider.

His  journey in the PKL began in Season 3 with the Bengal Warriors, where he played only five matches, scoring 10 raid points. His second season with the Warriors in Season 4 followed a similar pattern, with only seven raid points from five matches. While these early seasons were quiet, they served as a learning period for the young raider, helping him understand the pace and physical demands of professional kabaddi.

Season 5 turned out to be his breakthrough year where he played for U Mumba. He scored 86 raid points and 12 tackle points, showcasing his all-round capabilities and establishing himself as a dependable player who could contribute in both offense and defense.

Jadhav reached his peak with UP Yoddhas, who signed him in Season 6. In his first season with the team, he delivered 141 raid points, playing a crucial role in helping Yoddhas reach the playoffs. He continued his impressive form in Season 7, scoring 148 raid points and cementing his place as one of the team’s key raiders. However, Season 8 brought challenges as injuries affected his performance. Despite these setbacks, he still managed 92 raid points, reflecting his determination and resilience.

After three successful seasons with UP Yoddhas, Jadhav returned to Bengal Warriors in Season 9, taking on a supporting role while still contributing 123 raid points. Unfortunately, his form began to decline in Season 10, when he scored just 74 raid points. His final stint in the PKL came with Jaipur Pink Panthers in Season 11, where he played six matches and scored only 11 raid points.

With his performance dipping in the later years, the Maharashtra-born kabaddi player went unsold in the Season 12 auction, prompting him to step away from the league.

Over his PKL career, Shrikant Jadhav amassed over 800 raid points.
