Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025: India Crowned Champions Again

The Indian women’s kabaddi team has once again proven their dominance on the world stage, securing their second consecutive Women’s Kabaddi World Cup title with a thrilling 35–28 victory over Chinese Taipei in the final in Dhaka.

India remained unbeaten in all group-stage matches before overpowering Iran 33–21 in the semi-finals. Chinese Taipei, who also reached the final without losing a match, defeated hosts Bangladesh 25–18 to secure their spot in the championship clash.

After a good start, India took a narrow lead at half-time reflecting the intensity of the battle. However, they returned with renewed determination after the break, preventing their opponents Chinese Taipei from mounting any serious comeback. The defending champions controlled the game till the final whistle.

Captain Ritu Negi and vice-captain Pushpa Rana played crucial roles in India’s success. All-round efforts from Champa Thakur, Bhawna Thakur, and Sakshi Sharma bolstered India’s rotations and maintained momentum throughout the match

The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 featured 11 nations. This victory not only cements India’s supremacy in women’s kabaddi but also sets a new benchmark for the sport globally.

Most Valuable Player (MVP) – Sanju Devi (India)

For her excellent contributions and brilliant all-round performance throughout the tournament, she was honoured with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025.

Raider of the tournament – I MIN LIN (Chinese Taipei)

Lin stepped up as the lead raider and delivered some of the best kabaddi in the tournament. Her remarkable performance in the semi-final against Bangladesh helped the team secure the win and advance to the final.

She also gave her best in the final against India, but it wasn’t enough to secure the victory. For her notable raiding performance in the tournament, she was awarded the Raider of the Tournament.

Defender of the tournament – M.Srity Akter (Bangladesh)

M. Srity Akter impressed one and all throughout the tournament. Right from the start of the campaign, she stood like a wall in defence and helped Bangladesh win crucial matches.

Her outstanding performances helped the host reach the semi-final and ultimately secure the bronze medal. For her brilliant defence skills in the tournament, she has been awarded the Defender of the Tournament.
