Women’s Kabaddi World Cup Deferred Again; Details Here

The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 has been postponed once again. This time, it has been deferred indefinitely.

The second edition of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup was originally scheduled to be held in Rajgir, Bihar in June. Later it was rescheduled and relocated Hyderabad from August 3 to 10 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium.

In the latest development, the event has been postponed indefinitely after doubts were raised regarding the arrangements for the event, as many questions were unanswered till this week. The list of teams that will be participating in it was unclear. There were no announcements regarding the logo, the trophy to be presented to the winner.

Argentina, Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, the Netherlands, Iran, Japan, Kenya, Nepal, Thailand, Uganda, Zanzibar, Poland and India were the 14 countries taking part in the event.

Few pointed out that it was the delay in the announcement of the Bangladesh team for the World Cup, which was announced just an hour before the postponement news broke out.

As hosts for the event, the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) gave a written confirmation to the International Kabaddi Federation regarding the challenges that led to the postponement.

The letter addressed the delays in submission of the teams, which has an effect on the administrative clearances for players to travel and participate in the event. The organisers have also confirmed that there will not be any changes in the teams taking part in the event.

The  AKFI, in a letter to the IKF, stated that the decision was made due to the “non-timely submissions of team contingent administrative details,” which caused an issue in “obtaining clearances from the concerned Ministries.” AKFI also said that it will not accept any changes to the existing list of participating countries, stating that it would “derail the administrative process for timely clearances.”

The Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 is likely to take place after the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 that set to start from the 29th of August.
